Have you ever thought about what you would do if you had to face an attacker who had a gun? The first thing to consider is if you have people with you and how you taking taking a certain action would effect their safety and well-being.
The second thing to gauge is distance. This is important because someone with a gun can injure or kill you from two feet away to 50 feet and beyond. If you are arm distance to double arm distance, then you have a great opportunity to close that distance.
You may be thinking: why would I do that? You would close the distance because the one thing that will injure or kill you comes out of the muzzle. You control the muzzle, you control the threat.
Remember, the psychology of a gunfight: someone who is using a gun is mainly using it to threaten you in order for them to take something from you. Also, F.B.I. stats show that during a robbery, the gun was empty over 60% of the time.
